The Power to Win: Webinar Series

Power to Win (noun): The term we use to describe the ability of organizing groups to advance structural transformation and change conditions for people in their communities. 

To realize its vast transformative potential, the youth organizing field must identify and reconfigure the embedded practices we have adopted that are antithetical to collective power building. The Power to Win Framework is FCYO’s attempt to outline what it will take for the youth organizing field to address its growth edges and take leadership in a movement for structural transformation. The touchstone of all FCYO’s grantmaking programs, the  framework represents our current best thinking, driven by deep exploration into the role of young people in building meaningful power lessons from two decades of our work. 

Join us for “Building the Power to Win,”  a four-part virtual learning series beginning with the launch of the Power to Win Framework (P2W) on May 18th. 

This series will:

• Detail the process and context that allowed FCYO to build a new resourcing model in partnership with organizers.

• Highlight the four pillars of organizing detailed in the Power to Win Framework and uplift insights from youth organizers applying the framework to their work.

• Share the nuts and bolts that went into creating the GenPower Labs and Youth Organizing for Climate Action and Racial Equity (YO-CARE) grantmaking initiatives that center power-building and field-funder partnerships. 

The virtual series will occur every third Thursday of May-August at 11am Pacific/2 pm Eastern. We hope you will participate in this exclusive opportunity to be in community with other innovative movement and philanthropic leaders.

SESSION 1: POWER- THEORY AND PRACTICE | May 18th, 2 - 4 PM EST

Another world IS possible, but first we need to build a movement to get there. Hear from organizers and capacity-builders about how the Power to Win Framework guides us in that process and what we think it may make possible. And get a chance to see behind-the-scenes footage of our April Convening! 

SESSION 2: THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED | June 15th, 2 - 4 PM EST
The Framework and the GenPower Labs were born from years of practice and assessment-making. In this session, we will highlight the conditions and sectoral shifts that allowed for the Power to Win Framework to take root.

SESSION 3: WE MAKE THE ROAD BY WALKING | July 20th, 2 - 4 PM EST

Dive deep with us into the nuts and bolts of the interplay between the Power to Win Framework and key FCYO programming. 

SESSION 4: THE PATH TO POWER | August 17th, 2 - 4 PM EST

How do we build the movement we need to win the world we deserve? We don’t have all the answers, but we do think we have SOME. Join us for a discussion about gaps in the sector and how the Power to Win Framework can help guide us toward a more powerful movement ecosystem.
